I don't think anyone cares who she has been with. it was just an odd pairing IMO. from later pic's he seems to be a nice looking man and probably has a hot young wife. From Linda' past beau's.. she normally went for brainy vs brawny.. who knows this guy may have been both..

My husband and I were in Frankfurt, Germany in late '76 and saw Linda and a man having dinner at a restaurant we were at. They were obviously quite close given the body language. He was about her age or a little older, wearing a suit and tie. Very good looking with long hair. Reminded us a little of Neil Diamond. Anyway, my husband was enchanted with Linda and we waited till dinner was over and then he approached their table to ask for an autograph. The man stood up to sort of protect her when Linda said it was OK. According to my husband, she called him rick. They left the restaurant shortly thereafter hand in hand. There was definitely something between them and they were a really good looking couple. My husband always thought that meeting her was a highlight of his life. Like so many men of the era he had a soft spot in his heart for her. My husband also said he thought he had a New York accent.

That sounds a lot more plausible. Thanks for sharing the story about your brief encounter in Germany. Meeting Linda was the highlight of my life, too.

I have just come across an article in The Spokane Chronicle from 3 October 1990 that stated that:

Even if this story is true, the fact that Rick the Bodyguard has never tried to capitalize off the relationship speaks volumes about him and Linda's taste in men! Privacy and discretion are so important to Linda!

Privacy and discretion are so important to Linda! Very interesting and astute observation, Lance. You gotta give Rick the Bodyguard credit for that. Actually, that photo of them together is rather charming, in a hipper Captain and Tenille '70s sort of way. Although it does make one wonder: who took the picture?

She mentions Richard her bodyguard in her book, during the time of Pirates (page 137). Then a few pages later mentions that she was "keeping steady company" with journalist Pete Hamill. So I doubt Richard was the Rick you're speaking of. Looks like he was just her bodyguard, while Pete was her beau at the time.

I saw Linda with Pete Hamill a number of times during Pirates of Penzance, but don't recall seeing this bodyguard guy. She had other people escorting her into the stage door on Broadway and the bodyguard (Floyd) for Rex Smith also stepped in at times.

In 1973/74 I was a ticket agent for the Worchester, Ma. airport. Linda was performing @ Clark university in Worchester in February. 74 & my brother who was living in Boston and wAs crazy about Linda got tickets for the both of us. it was a great concert. After the show I treated my brother to dinner at a small local place. As we were finishing dinner Linda came in with a man I recognized from the airport. He was a businessman who commuted to Worchester almost on a daily basis. It's now 40 years so I don't remember his last name. I do remember that his first name was Rick. I used to see him all the time at the Airport and sometimes helped him with his return flights to New York. He and Linda were in a corner of the restaurant and having told my brother that I new Linda's date he wanted me to go overto say hello. I knew my brother wanted to see Linda up close (she was gorgeous) so after we paid our bill walked over and I said hello to Rick. At first he was a little surprised At seeing me but than he was as nice as always. He introduced us both to Linda as if we didn't know who she was. 1 minute of chit chat and I asked Rick if I was going to see him at the airport and he said see you Mon. Rick was a really good looking man who as someone else mentioned reminded you of Neil Diamond. One other thing I'll say is that Linda & Rick definitely had something going on between them. As a woman I could tell bathe way they looked at each other. Rick only continued his commute for about another year and I never saw him after that. A really classy man. To bad they didn't marry.

Maybe it was Neil Diamond's brother Rick Diamond.

LoL
As far as I can tell, Neil diamond only has 1 brother, and his name is Harvey...
There is one pattern that emerges if you analyze Linda's life. She was laser-focused on her singing career, and she wouldn't let anything or anyone stand in the way of it. Unfortunately the kind of nomadic life she's led was not conducive to successful long-term romantic partnerships. She seems to be very level-headed and open minded, and remains friendly with most of the men in her life.

Whenever I see this topic, I think that Linda is like most of us, as quoted by Willie Nelson when asked about record sales: "Ninety-nine percent of the world's lovers are not with their first choice. That's what makes the jukebox play." -Willie Nelson

Fairly certain I know who the Rick is. Anyone have any thoughts about divulging the info??? Can anyone think of a good reason to make it public? Maybe it's one of those things that should be left just between the two of them. Thoughts would be appreciated.

If he has a public persona, why not? If he's a private citizen, then no.
