Arizona's seven-day death rate per 100,000 people ranked second among states and territories as of Monday, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

One in every 300 Arizonans has now died from COVID-19.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows only two states and New York City have lost a larger share of their population to the virus than Arizona has since the start of the pandemic.
In all, nearly 24,000 Arizonan lives have been lost to COVID-19.
The pace of fatalities in the state remains extremely high. According to the CDC, Arizona has recently been reporting nearly seven deaths per 100,000 people per week, a rate more than twice as high as the national average.
