Speaker Biography: Singer and songwriter Linda Ronstadt has won 12 Grammy awards during her long and celebrated career. She has been successful in genres as diverse as pop, rock, country, ranchera, classical, jazz and American Songbook and was the top-selling female artist of the 1970s. Ronstadt is one of the most successful recording artists in U.S. history with more than 100 million records sold worldwide. She began her professional career in the mid-1960s, and with her fifth solo album, her 1974 masterpiece, "Heart Like a Wheel," she burst into superstardom. Ronstadt also starred in the Broadway and film versions of "The Pirates of Penzance" during the 1980s. She remains active in the music industry and has just released "Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir."
