These are only my thoughts based on what I am researching. I am thinking out loud and trying to understand conflicting information.

The mRNA vaccines are geared to attack a particular spike of the virus (of which there are many).
If you got the original vaccine it may not be effective on the next or most current variant of the disease because it was made to attack one particular spike. It may be at reduced effectiveness and good at attacking other spikes (not all spikes) but experts say it is better than nothing.
The booster vaccine from what I am reading was made for the original covid virus and not what is currently out there infecting people.

Israel, the most vaccinated nation in the world is experiencing a SURGE in covid hospitalizations.
Why?
My opinion is that they got the original vaccine geared for that particular spike. It worked well for that variant.
The new variant has a different spike that is causing the problems so their original vaccine is not so effective against it hence more hospitalizations and an increased surge in the public sector.
Also, because so many were vaccinated for the original covid variant there weren't as many catching the virus at the start. For those who survived the virus it gives them NATURAL IMMUNITY from the complete virus and NOT just a particular spike. At the very least their chances of fighting any covid variant are enhanced.
