Well, as far as covid goes here in the US many states did nothing until the hospitals were overflowing with covid patients (people dropping like flies) and it became a crisis. Also it was discovered that influenza cases went to almost nothing which experts say is a result of social distancing and wearing masks. So at least something good was discovered about that. If you ever had the flu you know you feel like you are dying or wish you were dead.
The media tends to hype things as that is what news outlets do for ratings. Then we have conservative news which feels it must compete with mainstream media which is more right of center than left. The cons assume that just because mainstream media attacked Trump it is Liberal media but it isn't. Attacking Trump is big $$$.
