A San Francisco home once owned by singer Linda Ronstadt is hitting the market for $17.5 million.
The light-blue Victorian dates back to the late 1890s and has a stained-glass, dome-shaped skylight above its main stairway, according to listing agent Nina Hatvany of Compass. Victorian architecture is common in San Francisco, with many of the houses dating back to the turn of the century, Ms. Hatvany said.
The current owners are Craig Bryson, 75, a founding distributor of the beauty and wellness company Nu Skin, and his wife, Kathleen Bryson, 72.
Mr. Bryson, a Bay Area native, said the couple bought the house from Ms. Ronstadt for just over $5 million in the late 1990s. Ms. Ronstadt had purchased the home about a decade earlier for $2.55 million, according to public records. She couldn’t be reached for comment.
The Brysons, who live primarily in Utah and have 11 children, bought the house to use as a second home. With four levels and seven bedrooms, the roughly 9,000-square-foot home fit the whole family during holidays, Mr. Bryson said. It is located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood, across the street from Alta Plaza Park and about a block away from the boutiques and restaurants on Fillmore Street, according to Ms. Hatvany.
Ms. Ronstadt made several changes to the home, Mr. Bryson said, including restoring the top level, where a deck has views of the North Bay. In the 1990s, the “You’re No Good” singer also extended the home, creating a larger kitchen, family room, and primary bedroom, Ms. Hatvany said.
Mr. Bryson said they are selling because their children are grown and mostly settled in the Southwest. The home is too big for just the two of them, he said. However, they still plan on visiting the area, and may buy a smaller home there.
The home, which is slated to hit the market later this week, is already sparking interest from prospective buyers, Ms. Hatvany said.
