Just this year, 2011, the “Porsche Museum opened in Stuttgart, Germany. Needless to say, the place is a sensation, astounding both the art and automobile industry at levels beyond wildest dreams.

This made me wonder, what about other museums in the United States, what do we have around here?
The first museum that comes to my mind is the “National Automobile Museum” The Harrah Collection, 10 Lake Tahoe Street, Reno, Nevada 89501-1558 1-775-333-9300 website. There you can find two infamous Porsche.

The other is a 1977 Porsche 935 “Spirit of Nevada” Coupe. The museum is amazing with the display of history and just how cars got to be what we see them as. The museum is a perfect testament in understand that automotive history in a chronological order.
Spirit of Nevada - Ever pull this car over?
In Los Angeles, the “Peterson Museum” 6060 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036 website– is simply just as famous. Very close to the La Brea Tar Pits, this display covers automotive sports to the highest degree. Being in Los Angeles and near Hollywood, there you can find the very same Porsche 917 Gulf No. 20 that was driven by Steve McQueen himself, in the film Le Mans. There are many cars used in films and finding their way in being subcultures all of their own. This is a not to miss when you are in the LA area.

The Simeon Foundation Automotive has a LeMans winner Porsche 917LH. The Simeone Foundation Museum is conveniently located just minutes off Interstate 95 in Philadelphia, close to Center City and the Philadelphia International Airport. If you happen to be a Ferrari lover, you can also find many examples of these most coveted automobiles.
I think it is worthy to give a bit of kudos to the many staff members and volunteers that love and car for these cars. As you know, funding is difficult and in some cases more visitors are always welcomed. The cars, even when not being used take quite of bit of hard-earned cash to keep as examples for our youth to enjoy. We at A. Bauer Porsche Repair all find similar love and sense of preservation for such automobiles. Should there be a chance that we as a whole, may enjoy more than the fraction of history these machines brought to us, plus ever having that opportunity to take them on open roads? I would await your answer to be a big yes.
