DAVID CARROLL/LINDA RONSTADT La Boheme (Audio, in English)
In 1984, Joseph Papp/New York Shakespeare Festival mounted an off-Broadway production of Puccini's "La Boheme," in a new English adaptation and with new orchestrations. The production involved several of those who had been involved in Papp's highly successful "The Pirates of Penzance." David Carroll was one of two alternating Rodolfos, while Linda Ronstadt was one of two Mimis. Here is the end of the first act: Rodolfo's aria (Carroll); Mimi's aria (Ronstadt: 4.42); finale/duet with Carroll and Ronstadt (9:58). Even if you're not an opera fan, you might want to give a listen to David Carroll's singing in the first track.
