Walkin’ Down the Line
Some of Linda Ronstadt's best work never made it to vinyl. The fresh-faced, miniskirted, 23-year-old Ronstadt burns down Bob Dylan’s “Walkin’ Down the Line” on Hugh Hefner’s long-forgotten TV show, “Playboy After Dark”, first broadcast April 7, 1970. Look closely and you'll see a young Lindsey Wagner in the audience.
Hef is right, Linda plays Country Music with a difference. Most people don't realize that what they are watching here is the birth of Country Rock right before their eyes. Bernie Leadon of the Eagles can be seen to Linda's right on guitar. Great performance.
