The RECESSION BEGAN BEFORE the LOCKDOWN. The TRUMPCONS cannot blame the failing economy on the pandemic like they have been trying to do. This is proof of how bad the cons have managed the economy AS USUAL. And true to form these same CONServatives have bungled the Coronavirus Pandemic response in such a way it will affect the country for at least a decade.
March 11, 2020 Trump declares a national emergency in the US.
March 13, 2020 China reports no new locally spread infections for the first time since the pandemic began.
March 19, 2020 New York City confirms 21,000 cases, making it the epicenter of the outbreak in the US.
March 23, 2020 Total confirmed cases in the US reach 82,404 — the highest in the world — surpassing China's 81,782 and Italy's 80,589.
March 26, 2020 More than 1/3 of humanity is under some form of lockdown.
March 31, 2020 The world passes 1 million COVID-19 infections.
April 2, 2020 Roughly 95% of all Americans are under lockdown, as 42 states issue stay-at-home orders.
April 7, 2020 The global death toll surpasses 100,000.

KEEP THIS IN MIND BEFORE BELIEVING ANY OF THE RIGHT WING PROPAGANDA SPIN ON HOW GREAT THE ECONOMY IS. I personally contacted the Bureau of Labor Statistics about this and they told me they do not distinguish jobs open because of retirements. It is included in their numbers.:
Trump keeps touting job creation like it is the best it has ever been because he is the president. He and his administration are taking credit for something that was going to happen anyway. Consider this: 10,000 baby boomers retire every day now. That equals approximately 300,000 per month jobs left open. It automatically sets up a condition for employers to raise wages to compete for the worker shortage. It lowers the unemployment rate. So when Trump boasts anything under that 300,000 monthly total that means he LOST jobs. Just another of those LIES OF OMISSION republiconservatives love to tell. During the Obama administration baby boomers for the most part had to forego retirement because the Republiconservatives that controlled our government crashed the economy causing the worst depression since the last Great Republican Caused Depression in the 1930s. Socialism had to bail out Capitalism once again. Rich bankers and Wall Street were bailed out by Main Street who is still suffering because of it.
So understand, when Trump and his Republican cronies lips are moving...they are lying.

June 28, 2013 – A Georgetown report released this week predicts that 31 million jobs will open up as baby boomers retire, and another 24 million new jobs will be available by 2020, barring any unforeseen economic or political surprises.
The report by Georgetown’s Center on Education and the Workforce (CEW) also predicts a shortfall of five million workers with postsecondary education and training.
“If the U.S. Congress can deal with budgetary challenges, we are on schedule for recovery,” says center director Anthony P. Carnevale. “But we will still face a major shortage of college-educated workers, especially as baby boomers retire.”
