Can someone please explain why Trump and the Republicans said that Trump and everyone on his team didn't have to respond to subpoenas but that all Democrats do? Ignore the subpoenas; force Lindsey Graham to go to court to get a court order to enforce the subpoenas; and then, like the Republicans did, drag the court proceedings out so long that there is not a resolution of the issue until after the November elections.
Not since Trey Gowdy's Benghazi star chamber has there been a more politically motivated Congressional investigation. All 12 of these 'republicans' know there is no there there. It is aimed merely at generating Fox chevrons and feeding baseless conspiracy theories to plant doubt in the American public about Obama and Joe Biden in the run up to the 2020 election. The GOP Senate is trying to meddle in the 2020 election with a fake investigation. This is Benghazi Benghazi Benghazi PART 2.
GOP Senate's subpoena power 'unprecedented': Feinstein

"This is really unprecedented at least in my 26 years. The resolution would give the chair sole authority to issue literally hundreds of subpoenas without any agreement from the ranking member or any committee vote on any specific subpoena as required by committee rules," Feinstein said before the vote.
A divided Senate Judiciary Committee approved sweeping subpoena power on Thursday for a politically charged congressional probe of an FBI investigation into President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and its contacts with Russia.
The Republican-led panel voted 12-10 along party lines to grant its chairman, Senator Lindsey Graham, authority to subpoena dozens of former Obama administration officials including former FBI Director James Comey and former national security adviser Susan Rice.

Alexander Torshin, funneled money to the NRA to help fund campaign spending to aid President Donald Trump in the 2016 election.
Torshin was linked to Maria Butina, a Russian woman who pleaded guilty to acting as an unregistered Russian agent by cultivating ties to the NRA and seeking to influence U.S. politics.
Money used by the National Rifle Association to help elect President Donald Trump didn’t come from Russia, the NRA told federal regulators.

Maria Butina developed a reputation in Russia for her love of guns - but it was her involvement with the National Rifle Association (NRA) that led to her getting in trouble with US authorities.
At the end of 2018 she pleaded guilty to being directed by a Russian government official to "establish unofficial lines of communication with Americans having power and influence over American politics".

GOP permission to issue unlimited subpoenas, but Trump refused to allow those called by Dems to answer subpoenas. Business as usual with GOP. One set of rules for them and another set for the rest of us...Like refusing to seat a SCOTUS in the last year Obama was in office, but pushing through judges in teh last year of Trump in office. I would submit that those subpoenas don't respond. After all, the GOP does not care about teh rule of law any longer.

The GOP is all about rule of law...when a Democrat is the accused.
“The notion that you can withhold information and documents from Congress, no matter whether you’re the party in power or not in power, is wrong. Respect for the “rule of law” must mean something, irrespective of the vicissitudes of political cycles.” - Trey Gowdy
“We can do the right thing, or we can lower our standards and allow the president to cling to public office – regardless of the consequences to our nation, to our system of justice, and to our future generations…Our nation is indeed at a crossroads. Will we pursue the search for truth, or will we dodge, weave and evade the truth? The investigation is legitimate, and ascertaining the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the unqualified truth is absolutely critical. – Republican Mitch McConnell
Democracy depends on a system of checks and balances for “abuse of power”, especially by the president. “Because impeachment is not about punishment, impeachment is about cleansing the office of the Presidency. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office.” - Senate Republican Lindsey Graham
“High crimes and misdemeanors goes to the question of whether or not the person serving as president of the United States put their own interests, their personal interest, ahead of their public service.” – Republican Mike Pence
“The United States is a nation of laws, not men. And I do not believe we can ignore the facts or disregard the Constitution so that the president can be placed above the law.” – Republican Senator Richard Burr
"If the president does something illegal, corrupt or dastardly, the impeachment process is available. No single prosecutor, judge or jury should be able to accomplish what the Constitution assigns to the Congress." – Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh

No one outside of the Trump Organization has more firsthand knowledge of Donald Trump's connections to Russia than Felix Sater. In 2006, he scouted a potential deal in Moscow with the president's children Don Jr. and Ivanka. In 2007, he stood alongside Trump at a launch party for a hotel Sater had helped get built, Trump SoHo, which marketed partially to Russian buyers. And during the 2016 presidential campaign, Sater helped plan a giant Trump tower in Moscow.
