Don't overdo it but it may be wise to get more sunshine and take some supplements.

A new study from researchers at Trinity College Dublin has hypothesized that vitamin D deficiency may be linked to higher mortality rates from COVID-19. Published in the Irish Medical Journal, the report analyzed vitamin D levels of older people in countries heavily affected by the coronavirus and found that places with high death rates from COVID-19, including Italy and Spain, also had rates of vitamin D deficiency.
eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2020-05/tcd-vdd051220.php
Countries such as Norway, Finland and Sweden, although typically less sun-filled, actually showed lower rates of vitamin D deficiency as well as lower mortality rates from COVID-19. The researchers suggest that “supplementation and fortification of foods” could be why vitamin D is at healthy levels there — and that “optimizing” vitamin D levels elsewhere may prevent serious coronavirus complications.
Vitamin D is critical for bone and muscle health and has shown effectiveness in combating depression. Nicknamed the “sunshine vitamin,” it is naturally produced by the skin when exposed to sunlight, but it can also be absorbed through vitamin-D-rich foods, such as salmon and whole eggs, as well as supplements. Deficiency in this vitamin, which is more common among black people, can lead to problems like bone issues and hair loss and can compromise the immune system.

Multiple studies are now theorizing that there may be a link between vitamin D deficiency and COVID-19. Here's what you need to know. (Photo: Getty Images)
Dr. William Schaffner, an epidemiologist and a professor in the division of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University, tells Yahoo Life that the research from Ireland is promising but doesn’t prove a causal link between the two. “This study is done from 50,000 feet,” Schaffner says. “These authors have gathered data from clinics in a variety of countries. ... But we haven't done an actual study in patients in a prospective fashion. So it’s an interesting hypothesis, but it’s not a route to either prevention or cure at this point.”
Equally cautious about the study is Dr. Kavita Patel, a nonresident fellow at the Brookings Institution and Yahoo Life medical contributor. “I have no reason to believe that there is some significant association with vitamin D and [COVID-19] mortality,” Patel says. “It just doesn’t make sense to me clinically.” That’s not to say, however, that she doesn’t consider vitamin D to be beneficial when it comes to respiratory infections.
“There have been studies in the past around the effects of vitamin D supplementation in decreasing the effects of the influenza virus,” Patel says. “So myself, and many doctors I know, started to give our families and ourselves [vitamin D] supplementation when this pandemic started, not knowing if this would be anything like the influenza virus, but we thought it wouldn’t be harmful.”
One of the studies Patel is referring to is a 2017 global meta-analysis of 25 randomized controlled trials, involving more than 11,000 individuals, which concluded that taking vitamin D supplements daily or weekly could significantly reduce the risk of severe respiratory infections like influenza. For those deficient in vitamin D (i.e., having blood levels below 10 mg/dl), the risk of respiratory infection was cut in half. While no similar research on vitamin D protecting against coronavirus exists, Patel says a randomized controlled trial on its effects is currently underway.

Still, the Ireland study is not the first to provide preliminary analysis suggesting there may be a link between vitamin D and COVID-19 severity. A May 7 analysis, led by researchers at Northwestern University, analyzed hospital and clinic data from countries affected by COVID-19 including China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the U.K. and the U.S. It also concluded that countries with high death rates, such as Italy and Spain, were more likely to have patients exhibiting vitamin D deficiencies.
In a statement, the study’s lead researcher, Dr. Vadim Backman, said there is evidence of a “significant correlation” — and that “optimizing vitamin D levels” could be a game changer. “Our analysis shows that it might be as high as cutting the mortality rate in half,” Backman said. “It will not prevent a patient from contracting the virus, but it may reduce complications and prevent death in those who are infected.”

Dr. Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease expert and senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security, agrees that the theory is probable. “There's long been an understanding that vitamin D deficiency is underdiagnosed in many countries,” Adalja tells Yahoo Life. “And that vitamin D deficiency does play a role in how the human immune system functions and that correcting vitamin D deficiencies can help with the clinical course of individuals with infectious diseases.”
But Adalja recommends getting things checked out before simply running to the store to buy the nutrient. “I think that you should talk to your doctor about getting tested to see that you are deficient in vitamin D before you take it,” he says. “You don't want to overdose yourself on vitamin D, which can happen.”
Overdosing on vitamin D, Patel adds, is unlikely for those with normal kidney function. But she agrees that the takeaway should be that it could be useful to explore it with your doctor. “Nobody thinks that vitamin D by itself is going to be a miracle cure, so to speak,” says Patel. “But it does seem reasonable — especially based on experiences with other diseases — that it could be useful to both check vitamin D levels and also potentially to supplement, even in healthy people.”

When I was sick with the covid-19 in April, my symptoms were severe. My doctor "prescribed" high doses of vitamin D, fat soluble vitamin C, Quercetin, and my regular multivitamin. The symptoms went way down. I ran out of quercetin and the respiratory problems came back that same day. I got the refill and within 12 hours after taking it the symptoms eased. I have now been covid negative for 3 weeks. And, btw, my doctor has not lost a patient to covid-19.

Not just vitamin D but glutathione deficiency and NAC may be related to COVID-19 severity. Either way consult with your doctor first on the recommendations below for Coronavirus. So to make summary of all available suplements:
For prevention or minimum symptoms:
1. Vit C 4x500mg
2. Vit D about 4000UI +K
3. Quercetine 2x 500mg
4. Zinc 2x15mg or 2x25mg
5. Selenium 1xday 110ug micro gr
6. Turmeric 2x500mg (blood thiner and anti oxidant)
7. NAC 2x600mg
8. AAKG and/or Citruline dose to be determined to boost NO
When symptoms worsening swich to HCQ (instead of quercetine) and increased dose fo Zinc and continiue with NAC and Vitamins (Vic C might be increased)
This is my personal approach.....
NO suspected based on this article:

Recently in the coronavirus cases there is some new evidence that, among other things, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) can break up blood clots (thromboembolisms) in COVID 19.
It could be that the serious complications of COVID-19, where there are low oxygen levels in the body or things like organ or limb damage is being caused by blood clotting. This is generally a result of your immune system releasing a host of factors into your system - including clotting factors - in response to the virus. This novel coronavirus has never been seen by our defenses and causes some peoples' immune systems to overreact go into a deadly overdrive. Source:https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.117.027290
There is a study going on with seriously ill COVID-19 patients to see how well this works. It would also be nice to know how well NAC works as a preventive. I am sure there are people taking it for this or other reasons.
Finally, this therapy of NAC + integrilin inhibitor does its job without upsetting the body's normal clotting mechanisms

The people with the worst oxidative stress from a baseline standpoint are those people with cardiovasular diseases, diabetes and over weight. Happy hypoxics. Cardiovasular collapse, blood clots in their vessels. These are the ones put on ventiators but to little avail. If you have high risk factors for severe disease, like heart or lung problems, diabetes, or those age 60 and over, consider getting a pulse oximeter. Here is one recommended on blauoximeter.pg-blog.com/ A pulse oximeter can provide early warning of the kinds of breathing problems associated with Covid-19 pneumonia. Take your readings now, when you are well, so you have a baseline to compare with. And do this lying down (as you would be if sick), so your baseline is a true baseline.
They have a new EKG SmartWatch just came out which checks your pulse and oxygen levels anytime on oshensmartwatch.com/index2.html
This will allow for documenting baseline QRS-T morphology should the patient develop signs/symptoms suggestive of myocardial injury or an acute coronary syndrome. Additionally, the baseline ECG allows for documentation of the QT (and corrected QTc) interval.
UV light is highly effective at killing viruses. The three main types of UV rays are UVA, UVB, and UVC. Because UVC rays have the shortest wavelength, and therefore highest energy. D3 Specifically. Along with zinc (destroys viral envelopes) and all other nutrients as they all work together. While this study may be "new" it is well known amongst M.D.s, naturalpaths, nutritionist and others.
One of my M.D.s in WA state (a non medical freedom state as most are btw) was sent a warning by the FDA. When I lived in NYC my health collasped after a fire and resulting chemical exposures from renovation products over time. Five viruses all deadly (many people carry them just don't know it). I researched Oxygen therapies (background in legal/medical research, nutrition, MA placement in an allied health science, and other sciences) and when NYC became a state where one can have an M.D. practice "freely" without fear of losing their license, we did them and my recovery began. Ozone and Hydrogen peroxide are produced by the body and when one's health is compromised they can be used by those who know how to administer them, therapeutically. Until NYC became a so called "medical freedom state" my M.D.s could not do as I wished. When it did and with research it was set up and I went from almost dead to being able to heal (mine had several areas of expertise and did holistic therapies).
The gist that occurred to me is that even in the mid 90's I realized we are not "the land of the free and brave" but live in a sort of police state - if one is in a state where policy does not allow such choices. As what is occurring now in many states where people are being sent to jail, while criminals are being released because local, state and federal government made choices based on what is "essential" and what is not. (yet a curious person would ask - if safety practices can be done at a grocery store why not a Church for one example???
Search EdMcCabe for starters. This was when H.I.V. just hit and another book I found from research showed how it assisted even with this virus (which of many is hard as it is a "stealth operator") I minored in NYC Government and did an internship at the Health Department A.I.D.S Education and Research. Few know that when this first arrived many thought it airborne and patients were left in hospital lobbies (not admitted so they did not have to be seen)... and person's I would visit to deliver food - as their trays were left in corners. It was horrific.
Remember, any government agency is supposed to be representative of "we the people" not a tyrannical force (the Constitution). The pharmeceutical industry has great influence over our Congress, and if one is a senior or disabled it is why Medicare pays for Rx but not for any natural therapy,

We are collectively navigating uncharted waters as this pandemic spreads to all corners of the world. As we settle into a temporary new way of life, our patients will undoubtedly turn to the internet for guidance from practitioners and every other source possible. The quality and accuracy of the information that is published at this time are of utmost importance, and we have a responsibility to hold ourselves to the highest standards possible.
It has come to our attention that the FDA is issuing warning letters to practitioners who are promoting COVID-specific content and/or protocols that can be interpreted as treatments for COVID-19. Working alongside our industry association partners, we are encouraging all practitioners to be cautious when sharing such content as it could have a direct effect on public health efforts and could result in an investigation by federal authorities.
We highly respect and value the fact that integrative, functional and naturopathic medicine requires a unique and often cutting-edge approach that could include unique protocols. However, due to the sensitivity of this situation, and in line with our Terms of Service (Section: Access and Rules of Use) we are asking that you remove or rephrase the COVID-specific references from your templates, categories, and public-facing content (website, social media).
We appreciate your compliance and would be happy to discuss this further should you have any questions or concerns.

Most of us are very low in D. Sunblocks used to have an SPF of 10-15 now they are 50-100 and above thus blocking UV rays and statins are now widely used to lower cholesterol and cholesterol is needed to synthesize Vitamin D. Approx 30 iu's per pound of weight is needed to have a blood level of 50-70. Magnesium is lacking in our diets also and proper levels are needed for D to work better.
