Geepers. This article has really brought the climate deniers out in force. So for deniers, this is for you. First, I’m a farmer and I know that global warming is threatening my ability to continue to farm. And it’s getting worse every year. It’s not the warming. It’s the unpredictability that comes with the warming. Plants evolved expecting a certain degree of variability. Climate change has thrown normal variability out the window. Second, I know that my, and everyone’s insurance costs are going up because there are more frequent and more catastrophic disasters because of climate change. Third, scientists don’t make any more or less money just for their research on the weather just because their research has predicted global warming. They just do their research and tell us what they’ve found. Finally, I think deniers have been bashing liberals so long about the climate change myth that’s it’s impossible for them to change their mind without losing their entire identity. If Rush were still alive today he’d have to keep on bashing liberals about climate change. I mean, to do otherwise would require a whole new identity. So, forget the evidence. Forget what we’re putting on our grandkids. Let’s just keep on having fun bashing those darn liberals. It’s just a different version of the boy who cried wolf.

Five major themes of climate misinformation, namely:

1) Global warming is not happening; 2) Human-produced greenhouse gases are not causing global warming; 3) Climate impacts are not bad; 4) Climate solutions won’t work; and 5) Climate science or scientists are unreliable. Most climate misinformation does not take the form of climate myths—such as the falsehood that recent global heating is the result of a natural cycle—but rather focuses on undermining climate research and proposals to moderate and prepare for climate change. The switch from outright “climate denial” to “solutions denial” likely came about because the scientific evidence for human-caused climate change is now so overwhelming. Science denial has become untenable, so inevitably, opponents of climate action are strategically shifting to misinformation targeting climate solutions in order to delay climate policy. The entire international community now accepted the physical science basis for climate change. Wealthy special interest groups, including fossil fuel companies, continue to disseminate misinformation with the express purpose of delaying climate action.
“Ultimately the purpose of all climate misinformation is to delay climate action—whether the argument is ‘global warming isn’t happening’ or ‘climate models are unreliable. The conclusion is always ‘therefore we shouldn’t act on climate change.’” So where the money behind climate misinformation is coming from? And who is spreading that misinformation?
Insights as to where the money behind climate misinformation is coming from: All the major donors are American, and they included the influential Donors Capital Fund, the ExxonMobil Foundation and Koch Affiliated Foundations. Also included was the Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program, operated by investment firm Vanguard, which was revealed this year to be the largest investor in the global coal industry, to the tune of $86 billion.

And WHO is spreading that misinformation? CONSERVATIVE MEDIA which is a superbly organized, cohesive and efficient machine. It is a smooth flowing organization of advocacy groups, lobbyists, think tanks, conservative foundations, and PR firms. One such group, Koch Industries which funds the Heritage Foundation is responsible for the creation of Project 2025.
Recent headline that will explain everything:
Leonard Leo, Koch networks pour millions into prep for potential second Trump administration.
Huge funding from influential conservative donor networks is flowing into a conservative venture aimed at creating a Republican "government-in-waiting," including over $55 million from groups linked to conservative activist Leonard Leo and the Koch network.Launched by the Heritage Foundation in April 2022, Project 2025 is a two-pronged initiative to develop staunch conservative policy recommendations and grow a roster of thousands of right-wing personnel ready to fill the next Republican administration.
