Wide Ramifications Seen for Brain Damage Found in Maine Gunman
Seems to me conservative media has the same exact effect on he brain of its audience although the cause would be different. Can gaslighting your audience affect the brain? Plenty of evidence in the affirmative. Gaslighting has been used to describe patterns in political life, usually in regard to former President Trump and Vladimir Putin. These powerful men appear comfortable and confident denying obvious facts; they cast aspersion on respected sources of information with terms such as “fake news” and this highly general dismissal absolves them from addressing detailed criticism. They are both malignant narcissists. Victims may on one level know the gaslighter is lying, but come to see their own knowledge as unreliable, so their “knowledge” does not protect them. They may also be vulnerable to their gaslighters suggestions like fomenting an insurrection or hurting others. A brain scan of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) shows less brain matter in areas associated with emotional empathy. Multiple studies and writings have been done on the impact of narcissism and gaslighting on relationships. While each of these often destructive pathologies is unique, there are certain behavioral overlaps including a penchant for violence.
