I believe this episode of the Wonder Years started the tribute trend on youtube with Goodbye My Friend. I remember this episode so well. It was the most touching episode of the series. Had me in tears.
Episode Synopsis: Kevin seeks tutoring help from his math teacher for a big test.
Mr. Collins: "I'm sorry. I have to go. I'll be back for the exam on Friday."
Kevin: "Wait."
Narrator (Kevin): "I felt betrayed. Here I was practically begging for the man to help and he was throwing me an anvil for a lifejacket."
Kevin: "I..."
Narrator (Kevin): "But there was nothing more to say except for one thing."
Kevin: "I thought you were my friend."
Mr. Collins: "Not your friend Mr. Arnold. Your teacher."
Kevin's math teacher, Mr. Collins dies during the school year. It hits home for any of us that lost a beloved teacher during our childhood years. This was my favorite episode of a wonderful tv series.
The Wonder Years, Season 3 Episode 20, Goodbye - Ending
Wick Oss
The man at the beginning of the second clip was a substitute teacher sitting in for Mr. Collins who passed away that morning. He broke the news of his passing to Kevin.
The Wonder Years (S03E043) - Goodbye
Samuel
Mr. Collins appears (in spirit form) in the third video final scene as Kevin leaves the "make up test" and thanks him for the inspiration to do better and for being not just a teacher, but a friend that really cared.
I had many teachers I remember fondly. This is for them as well.

Speaking of Goodbye My Friend tributes, rarely a month goes by where I am not dealing with the death of a dumped, abused, lost or unwanted animal as I live next to a city park and mine is their first stop looking for help. The dogs I can get into a rescue but not so easy for cats, chickens, rabbits, tortoises etc. but especially not for cats. Turned the larger part of my property into what I call "Little Feet Retreat" where I have taken in some real characters but I love them all. Even the ferals warm up to me. I also have a nightly excursion with several cat colonies around the valley where they wait for me to be fed come rain or shine. So many little souls out there needing help. This song is difficult for me to listen to but hey, it's Linda! ....the Scribe

The episode revolves around the relationship between Kevin Arnold and his math teacher, Mr. Collins. Mr. Collins pushes Kevin to succeed in math.
