I do not know this to be true but I like to think it is. In the late 1970's I ran an unofficial-official fan club for Linda Ronstadt. I got the permission to create it from Ira Koslow who was on her management team with Peter Asher Management but he made it clear Linda wouldn't be involved. Linda's mission was to create music. The fan club was a lot of work as Linda was at the height of her popularity. Popular in many genres, including Country, I enlisted help from the Johnson Sisters who ran a fan club for Loretta Lynn as well as IFCO -International Fan Club Organization. Lots of letters going on between us over those years. They were very helpful in promoting the fan club and Ira Koslow was quite helpful in sending me promotional material as "give aways" for fan club events.

Shortly after Simple Dreams was released I sent a package to Peter Asher at Peter Asher Management Inc. The package contained two 45 rpm singles of former hits by other artists. They were songs I thought Linda should record. My thinking was if he had an actual hard copy of a song rather than just a suggestion in writing it may make more of an impression and stick with him longer, especially if he and Linda were looking for songs to put on the next album. OR it might be sitting on his desk for a bit, staring at him saying "record me." The records I sent were Ain't That A Shame by Fats Domino and the other was an especial favorite of mine called Just One Look recorded by Doris Troy. Linda had neither in her current act which primarily consisted of her hits and Simple Dreams material.
Below is Peter Asher opening my package (just kidding). Also pictured is Ira Koslow and Gloria Boyce.

Fast forward to the release of her next album, Living In The USA. I had read Linda was about to release her new album any day now and I rushed over to Tower Records to see if they had it. THEY DID! When I looked at the back cover for the list of songs THERE IT WAS.
JUST ONE LOOK
I have never heard the official story of how Linda came to record Just One Look but for me this was official enough. Coincidence? Or synchronicity? Although it wasn't a major hit for Linda it sure became a hit for me and a favorite of many.
Another oddity connected to this song is back in 1972 when Linda appeared at my university she noticed a friend of mine wearing an Eagles jersey. Eagles was the name of our sports teams. From the stage she tried to coax him into giving her his football jersey as she had some friends in a new group called Eagles. "I'll trade you something for it" she said to laughter, howls and wolf whistles from the audience. Steve didn't relent so the next day I went to the University bookstore and had an Eagles jersey made up with the number 44 (one of my favorite numbers) to send to Linda. 44 also happens to be the highest number that Just One Look charted for Linda on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart. Too bad #1 wasn't my favorite number at the time. www.billboard.com/artist/linda-ronstadt/chart-history/hsi/
Here is Randy wearing an Eagles jersey that he bought at our campus bookstore a year later:

That is my story and I am sticking to it. Linda Ronstadt - Just One Look (Live)

Doris Troy ~ Just One Look
24,037 views Jul 3, 2021 ATLANTIC STATION May 7, 1963 Atlantic
"Just One Look" is a song co-written by American R&B singers Doris Troy and Gregory Carroll. The recording by Doris Troy was a hit in 1963. The Hollies, Anne Murray and Linda Ronstadt recorded hit versions of their own. There have also been many other versions of this song.
Details vary as to how the Doris Troy version came to be released on Atlantic Records. According to the book Billboard Book of One-Hit Wonders, James Brown saw Troy performing in a nightclub (under her then-stage name Doris Payne), and introduced her to Atlantic. According to a more recent and detailed story in Soulful Divas, Payne recorded a studio demo of the song and took it to Sue Records first, but their lack of response led her to offer it to Jerry Wexler at Atlantic, where the label released the demo unchanged. The personnel on this song included Ernie Hayes on piano, Wally Richardson on guitar, Bob Bushnell on bass and Bernard Purdie on drums.
The single's release was the first time she started using "Doris Troy" as her stage name, though her pen name remained Doris Payne. The album also lists the surname Payne in the songwriting credits.
Reception In 1963, Doris Troy scored her only hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Just One Look". The song spent 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 10, while reaching No. 3 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, No. 8 on New Zealand's "Lever Hit Parade", and No. 1 on Canada's CHUM Hit Parade. The song also charted at No. 9 on the Cash Box Top 100, in a tandem ranking with the version by Andy and the Marglows, with Troy's version marked as a bestseller.
The song was ranked No. 70 on Billboard's end of year ranking "Top Records of 1963", while being ranked No. 80 on Cash Box's "Top 100 Chart Hits of 1963", and No. 11 on Billboard's "Top R&B Singles for 1963".

Waddy Wachtel on Playing With Keith, Linda, Seger and More by Greg Brodsky bestclassicbands.com/waddy-wachtel-keith-richards-interview-ronstadt-11-4-22/
Wachtel, who turned 75 just before our interview, was a member of Ronstadt’s studio and touring band for years.
“It seems like she had an ability to shift to a higher gear than any other singer,” I observe. “Tell me about her recording of ‘Just One Look.'”
“On that song, when she gets to that ending, she just goes to a whole other level,” he says. “Those are live vocals on the session. That’s not her singing a casual guide vocal because she’s going to do ‘the real one’ later. [Producer] Peter Asher’s approach was, ‘No, no. These are performances.’ So when we’re doing the song, she’s going for the vocal. For ‘Blue Bayou,’ that vocal you hear… she sang that when we cut the track. That’s the real vocal. That’s why when we go on the road it sounds the same. Because it’s the band playing and it’s her driving the band with her incredible voice."
"It was the same with ‘Just One Look.’ That was the way we recorded it. That’s a live vocal. When she hits that ending… ‘Ohhh, baby…’ It’s like holy Christ! You could lose your place when you’re playing along with that.”

1979 Mazda 626 commercial 3,482 views Sep 30, 2012 The guy in this ad mentions that he looked at the "new" Mazda 626. 1979/80 was the start of the car in the U.S. so that makes sense. Similar to the Mazda ad I also have on my channel, they borrow heavily from a popular song. This brings to mind "Just One Look" by Linda Ronstadt.
