Gloating as he steals elections. This dolt ought to get a Dumpweed Nomination just for his yammy whiny horrid voice but what he did on FOX News is truly disgusting and anti American whereas NORMAL Americans are concerned. This guy is the real Trump Jr. and heir apparent.RetireRon trends as DeSantis signs bill killing voting rights live on Fox Newsnews.yahoo.com/florida-governor-signs-election-bill-133146077.html Ron DeSantis Graig Graziosi Thu, May 6, 2021, 8:55 AM·3 min read
Education-Florida (Miami Herald Staff) Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, proudly signed a new voting rights bill that will likely make it harder for people of colour to cast a ballot.
Mr DeSantis was so proud of the new bill that he decided to sign it during an exclusive interview with Fox & Friends.
Journalists from other outlets who arrived to cover the bill signing were turned away and told the event was “Fox only”.
The bill will limit the number of ballot drop boxes available to voters, require greater ID for voters, and force people to have to sign up for the voter roll every year they want to receive a mail-in ballot. Groups including the NAACP and Common Cause warned that the bill’s provisions will make it harder for people to vote in the state.
Despite the fact that Mr DeSantis lauded the state's election security in 2020, he apparently felt it was necessary to make voting more difficult.
“I have what we think is the strongest election integrity measures in the country,” Mr DeSantis told Fox News. “We're making sure we're enforcing voter ID … We're also banning ballot harvesting. We're not gonna let political operatives go and get satchels of votes to dump them in some drop box.”
“Ballot harvesting” has become one of the latest boogeymen Republican election reformers have used to justify legislation that restricts voting rights. Essentially, ballot harvesting allows a third party individual to collect and deliver ballots in some states.
The practice is often used to help individuals who cannot or struggle to physically visit a polling location cast their vote.
Drop boxes will now keep the same hours as the state's election offices, and a monitor will be required to watch over the locations.
“We're also prohibiting mass mailing of balloting. We've had absentee voting in Florida for a long time. You request the ballot. You get it. And you mail it in. But to just indiscriminately send them out is not a recipe for success,” Mr DeSantis said, without providing further detail.
Last year was the first time in years that Democrats have outvoted Republicans by mail, casting 680,000 more mail-in ballots than Republicans did.
The bill was immediately challenged in court by civil rights organisations, while the governor faced a barrage of criticism on social media, including a number of tweets featuring the hashtag “retireRon” and “deathsantis” among his critics.
“BREAKING: Minutes after Governor DeSantis signs new voter suppression law, @lwvflorida, @blackvotesmtr, @activeretirees file federal court lawsuit,” Marc Elias, a Democratic lawyer, tweeted. “Proud to be part of the legal team supporting these great organisations protecting the right to vote!”
The lawsuit alleges that the weight of the bill will be disproportionately felt by disadvantaged communities.
“SB 90 does not impede all of Florida’s voters equally,” the lawsuit says. “It is crafted to and will operate to make it more difficult for certain types of voters to participate in the state’s elections, including those voters who generally wish to vote with a vote-by-mail ballot and voters who have historically had to overcome substantial hurdles to reach the ballot box, such as Florida's senior voters, youngest voters, and minority voters.”
Mr DeSantis's strange bill signing ceremony predictably stirred comments and criticism on social media. Some users questioned the governor's decision to make the event a “Fox News exclusive” despite it involving a civic leader engaging in public duties, while others skewered the provisions of the legislation.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is a rising star in the Republican Party. But many of his former staffers told Politico they felt used and abused by the MAGA politician.
A group of former DeSantis staffers have formed a "support group" to regularly discuss their adverse experiences working for the governor, Playbook reported Friday. DeSantis reportedly has very few veteran advisers and largely relies on himself and his wife, Casey DeSantis, to guide his political strategy.
"Loyalty and trust, that is not a currency he deals in," one former adviser told Politico. "It's him and Casey. But everyone else is like a disposable piece of garbage."
After DeSantis faced widespread criticism for saying his Black competitor in the 2018 governor's race would "monkey up" the state, DeSantis and his wife reportedly blamed campaign staffers for the fallout. DeSantis fired five aides within the first few months of taking office as governor. And he reportedly had the leader of the Florida Republican Party fire a staffer in their first week back at work after having surgery for cancer. www.businessinsider.com/ron-desantis-says-andrew-gillum-could-monkey-up-politics-florida-governor-race-2018-8?utm_source=yahoo.com&utm_medium=referralThe governor's former chief of staff, Shane Strum, said in a statement to Politico that DeSantis "empowered me to make sure that everyone who worked for him had the best interests of the state at heart."
"We didn't tolerate leakers, and we didn't tolerate grifters," Strum said.
DeSantis is closely aligned with former president Donald Trump, who recently said he'd consider the governor as a potential running mate if he decides to run for president in 2024.
"He's a friend of mine," Trump said last month, taking credit for DeSantis' success. "I endorsed Ron, and after I endorsed him, he took off like a rocket ship. He's done a great job as governor."

Florida Newspaper Rips GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis For Acting Like ‘Tyrannical' Trumpnews.yahoo.com/south-florida-sun-sentinel-ron-desantis-trump-100516823.html Lee Moran·Reporter, HuffPost Fri, May 7, 2021, 3:05 AM·1 min read
Ron DeSantis
Donald Trump
The editorial board of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel tore into Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday for signing a controversial bill that restricts voting rights. www.sun-sentinel.com/opinion/editorials/fl-op-edit-desantis-lockout-media-flawed-elections-bill-20210506-t6oatwq2fnctdnljfo7exnabxu-story.html www.huffpost.com/entry/florida-governor-signs-bill-restricting-voting-rights_n_608b706ee4b046202705b6d2
In a lengthy editorial, the newspaper accused DeSantis — who only gave Fox News access to the signing ceremony — of acting increasingly “like his role model, the tyrannical Donald Trump, who picked petty fights with news outlets and cherry-picked reporters who tossed softball questions.” www.sun-sentinel.com/opinion/editorials/fl-op-edit-desantis-lockout-media-flawed-elections-bill-20210506-t6oatwq2fnctdnljfo7exnabxu-story.html www.huffpost.com/entry/ron-desantis-fox-news-voting-bill_n_6094476ce4b0aead1b814195/ www.huffpost.com/news/topic/donald-trump
It was “another revealing glimpse of life under the iron-fisted rule of DeSantis in Florida, a place where the doors are shut tight to anyone who might question his wisdom or challenge his authority” and the “latest sign of DeSantis’ authoritarian grip” on the state, the newspaper said.
“Like Trump, DeSantis keeps revealing his thin skin, and his willful attacks on the press are dangerous in a free society,” the editorial added, calling the voting law “oppressive.”
“Shame on Republicans for this law, which will only make it harder for lawful votes to be counted and will undermine public faith in Florida elections,” it added.

Almost 3,000 Floridians are being hospitalised each day, according to the New York Times, the highest number in the nation and the fourth-highest per capita. New cases increased by 429% over the past 14 days, a dramatic surge only superseded by that in Tennessee. As Covid cases rise in Florida, Governor DeSantis digs at Fauci with merchandise www.yahoo.com/news/covid-cases-rise-florida-governor-140236829.html

For $12, you can buy a red beverage cooler imprinted with the words: “How the hell am I going to be able to drink a beer with a mask on?”
Related: Delta variant gains ground in US as outbreaks highlight vaccine divide
Those with deeper pockets can be the proud owner of a $21 T-shirt stamped with the map of Florida and the logo “Love My Gov” and “Keep Florida Free”.
But perhaps the merchandise with the best sales potential are the drink koozies and T-shirts that say “Don’t Fauci My Florida”.
The slogan , first reported by the Washington Post, is the brainchild of the team around Ron DeSantis, the Republican governor of Florida who is hoping he can ride Donald Trump’s coattails all the way to the White House in 2024.
The phrase is a dig at Anthony Fauci, the chief White House medical adviser who because of his cautionary approach to the deadly coronavirus and mask-wearing has become a popular punch-bag for Republicans. There is no road that leads to conservative supremacy, it seems, that doesn’t run over America’s top infectious diseases expert.
The pattern was set by Trump himself who, while in the White House presiding over a disastrous federal Covid response, chose Fauci to be his scapegoat. Trump called the doctor who has now served seven presidents since 1984 an “idiot” and ridiculed his careful approach to the virus by implying he was 500 years old. Fauci is now 80. Trump is 75.
Since Trump’s defeat by Biden, the Fauci-bashing baton has been passed to the Fox News star Tucker Carlson. The prime time host has taken a more menacing approach, accusing Fauci of lying about the origins of the coronavirus in a series of unsubstantiated rants.
Now it’s DeSantis’s turn to jump on the bandwagon – and generate some cash to fund his 2022 re-election campaign. Since the start of the pandemic the Republican governor has positioned himself as the champion of freedom, standing up against no-fun health experts who insist on masks and social distancing.
Even as Covid was sweeping the US in early 2020, DeSantis refused to close Florida’s beaches. He shunned mask ordinances and removed all restrictions on businesses in May.
The timing of his new Fauci-bashing merchandise launch is unfortunate, given the state of his state. Though vaccination levels have risen in Florida, and infection rates fallen, Florida is grappling with a marked increase in new cases and hospitalisations as the highly contagious Delta variant kicks in.
Almost 3,000 Floridians are being hospitalised each day, according to the New York Times, the highest number in the nation and the fourth-highest per capita. New cases increased by 429% over the past 14 days, a dramatic surge only superseded by that in Tennessee.

DeSantis might think twice about what he puts on his beer coolers. Politically, Fauci has a way of outliving his detractors.

Up To 1 Million COVID Tests Expired In Florida As Gov. DeSantis Kept Mum On Surging Cases www.yahoo.com/news/million-covid-tests-expired-florida-041610839.html
Mary Papenfuss Fri, January 7, 2022, 2:03 AM
A Florida official admitted Thursday that as many as 1 million COVID-19 test kits expired in a state warehouse over the last few days of December while coronavirus cases were skyrocketing and Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said nothing about the health crisis. www.huffpost.com/news/topic/florida www.huffpost.com/topic/ron-desantis
Kevin Guthrie, director of the state Division of Emergency Management, made the startling revelation about the Abbott Laboratories rapid test kits in response to a reporter’s question at a Palm Beach press conference where DeSantis was touting the state’s acquisition of an additional 1 million tests. Those at-home test kits are intended to be available only to the elderly. www.huffpost.com/news/topic/florida
“If you’re just young and healthy, you don’t need to be going out and getting tested every day,” DeSantis declared, contradicting many health experts. He said nothing about getting vaccinated. www.palmbeachpost.com/story/news/2022/01/06/desantis-1-million-home-covid-19-tests-go-seniors/9114820002/
Guthrie claimed at the press conference that there was simply no demand for the tests that expired — despite massively long lines of Floridians waiting for tests that were available elsewhere, and despite drugstores being sold out of COVID tests.
The batch of rapid tests expired between Dec. 26 and Dec. 30.
“We tried to give them out prior to that, but there was not a demand for it,” Guthrie insisted to reporters.
Before the expiration, the state’s Department of Health requested a three-month extension for using them from Abbott and the federal government, but there has yet been no decision. The state had previously received a three-month extension for use of the same batch of tests, Florida Politics reported. floridapolitics.com/archives/483992-ron-desantis-administration-confirms-up-to-1-million-covid-19-rapid-tests-expired-last-month/
Agriculture Commissioner and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried was the first to reveal the expired “stockpiled” tests on Dec. 30. It took the DeSantis administration seven days to confirm — and only when pressed by a journalist. www.huffpost.com/entry/nikki-fried-democrat-florida-governor_n_60b634e9e4b02a79db9287a3
Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding, a top epidemiologist and senior fellow of the Federation of American Scientists, called the expiration of the rapid test kits a “scandal.”
Officials “denied… but they were caught lying… and had to admit it was true that they did have 1 million tests expire! Can’t make this up,” he tweeted.
Fried has accused DeSantis of operating like Donald Trump, who suggested when COVID cases skyrocketed during his presidency to simply stop testing so case numbers wouldn’t go up. www.huffpost.com/news/topic/donald-trump www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-no-covid-19-tests-no-covid-19_n_5ee7cc27c5b69e917f1d3b2b

Eight Times Ron DeSantis "Accidentally" Did Racist Stuff www.miaminewtimes.com/news/eight-times-ron-desantis-did-racist-stuff-by-accident-10687534 JERRY IANNELLI SEPTEMBER 4, 2018 8:00AM
After enough racism scandals involving a particular political candidate, you'd think everyone might just admit that person is simply racist. Yet a whole lot of people — from bad-faith conservative pundits to easily fooled reporters — continue offering excuses for Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis' infamous statement on Fox News that Andrew Gillum would "monkey... up" Florida.
At best, that gaffe implies DeSantis, who is a seasoned lawyer with degrees from Harvard and Yale, is so ignorant he doesn't know it's a really bad idea to use the word "monkey" when talking about a black person.
But claiming his use of the word was a simple accident is also hard to believe because DeSantis has a clear, repeated pattern of making offensive and/or outright racist statements, hanging out with racists, and defending other people who are also racists. It's past time that DeSantis — long considered the most right-wing Florida congressman who is running on a platform of fealty to Donald Trump and pure anti-immigrant bile — lost the benefit of the doubt. Here's why: www.miaminewtimes.com/news/eight-times-ron-desantis-did-racist-stuff-by-accident-10687534

Tough-guy Ron DeSantis defeats Woke Disney! Except ... he didn’t. At all. www.yahoo.com/news/tough-guy-ron-desantis-defeats-100022031.html Rex Huppke, USA TODAY Tue, February 14, 2023 at 9:17 AM MST If you’re into combatting wokeness, the imaginary villain that haunts Republican fever dreams, then Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is your superhero du jour.
He took on Woke Disney and won! He flew migrants to Woke Martha's Vineyard and owned the libs! He singlehandedly de-woke-ified the Woke College Board’s planned AP African American studies course!
The mighty DeSantis is surely the Anti-Woke Warrior conservative America needs, right?
Well, let’s put it this way: If you’re into combatting wokeness, you’re also into getting conned, so embracing DeSantis as a blustery David defeating this perceived Goliath of liberalism is perfectly on brand. But if you’ve got at least one oar in the waters of reality, it’s a short paddle to see behind the curtain of Florida’s Great and Mighty Despoiler of Woke. And there ain’t much back there.

This EEEDEEEOTTT gets the DUMPWEED NOM OF THE YEAR.
DeSantis Repeals $1.2 Billion Tax Hike He Imposed During Last Year’s Disney Fight www.yahoo.com/news/desantis-repeals-1-2-billion-180156867.html S.V. Date Mon, February 27, 2023 at 11:01 AM MST
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday undid a looming $1.2 billion tax hike on Central Florida residents that he inadvertently imposed a year ago in a hastily passed bill meant to punish Walt Disney Co. for criticizing his so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law.
“The corporate kingdom finally comes to an end,” the Republican said, taking the lectern at a firehouse on Disney property.
Monday’s law cancels the scheduled dissolution of a special taxing district for the 25,000 acres owned by Disney south of Orlando, which lawmakers passed and DeSantis signed into law over a three-day span last April.
A month earlier, then-Disney CEO Bob Chepak told the company’s employees that he regretted not vocally opposing the Parental Rights in Education Act and said he would suspend political donations in Florida.
That legislation, nicknamed the “Don’t Say Gay” law, prohibits teachers in the early grades from discussing sexuality or gender. Critics argue it prevents teachers in same-sex marriages, for example, from mentioning their spouses.
DeSantis and his allies said that Disney should not be given special privileges. But an unintended consequence of last April’s law was to transfer Disney’s outstanding debt onto the 700,000 homeowners and businesses in Orange and Osceola counties.
Had that law taken effect on June 1 as scheduled, their tax bills would have increased by thousands of dollars per year until 2038, when the bonds the Reedy Creek Improvement District issued to pay for roads and other public works on Disney property would finally be paid off.
Such a tax hike would have been a political disaster for DeSantis, who is expected to announce his presidential bid later this spring. The urgency of resolving the matter was reflected in his decision to include it during a special legislative session this month rather than wait for the start of the regular session in early March. Florida governors historically have had far more control of legislation during a special session than the regular 60-day session, in which bills often get cluttered with extraneous language and caught up in horse-trading.
The bill DeSantis signed into law Monday repeals last April’s Disney law and gives him and future governors the task of appointing the board for Disney’s taxing district, which was renamed the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. It otherwise leaves untouched the district’s ability to issue bonds to pay for improvements on Disney property.
DeSantis said he planned to formally appoint a new five-person board later Monday. While those individuals previously had been chosen by Disney, they will now be DeSantis allies ― including Bridget Ziegler, the wife of the state Republican Party chairman.
During Monday’s 45-minute bill signing, DeSantis used repeated misrepresentations and outright falsehoods to describe both Disney’s previous and new tax and regulatory frameworks.
For example, DeSantis claimed that Disney would finally be forced to pay its “fair share” that it avoided in the past. “You had infrastructure feeding into the theme park that was paid for by all the citizens of Central Florida, and Disney really got a free ride on that. Now they can be taxed for that,” he said.
In fact, Disney property has one of the highest total tax rates in the state. It pays all the taxes due to the counties and school boards for its acreage, and then pays additional “mills” for roads, water and sewage, utilities, and fire and police protection on its own property.
At another point, DeSantis suggested that Disney’s spending on its own infrastructure had burdened Florida taxpayers. “They were able to get huge amounts of benefits without paying their fair share of taxes, and even racked up $700 million of municipal debt,” he said.
In reality, Disney’s bond debt is paid only by taxpayers within the Reedy Creek Improvement District boundaries ― in other words, Disney itself, except for a few small parcels it has sold to hotels.
Former President Donald Trump is expected to face Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the 2024 presidential primary.
DeSantis said the new law puts Disney on par with all of the other Central Florida attractions: “Disney is going to be treated like SeaWorld is treated or like any of these others.”
That is also not true. While under a renamed board, Disney still has its own taxing district, which Universal Studios and SeaWorld, for example, do not. And because the district is a tax-exempt entity, a parking garage on Disney property does not have to collect sales tax, while those at the other theme parks do.
DeSantis accused local governments of trying to take advantage of last year’s legislation to raise taxes. “It will prevent local governments dominated by leftist politicians from using this situation to raise local taxes,” he said of the new law.
But passing along Disney’s accumulated debt to Orange and Osceola county taxpayers was not optional for officials in those counties in the event Reedy Creek was dissolved. Rather, it is required under state law governing special districts.
DeSantis’ press office did not respond to HuffPost queries. As has been his practice during his tenure, DeSantis did not publicly disclose Monday morning’s bill signing until two hours before its start ― making it impossible for the Tallahassee capital press corps journalists who have followed the Disney legislation most closely to attend.
Instead, DeSantis invited a firefighters union leader who complained that Disney was not paying them enough; a local mother who renounced Disney because she believes it no longer provides wholesome entertainment; and a Disney World employee who used his time at the microphone to spread various falsehoods about the COVID vaccines.
DeSantis is widely expected in Florida to announce his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, challenging coup-attempting former President Donald Trump.
His critics already criticize him for aping Trump’s personality traits to win over his voters. DeSantis on Monday provided them a bit more fodder by holding up the bill to show off his signature to the audience and the cameras ― just as Trump used to at his bill signings.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story included an inaccurate transcription of DeSantis’ comment; he said “The corporate kingdom finally comes to an end.”
