Once Upon A Time! (Tony Bennett) (Lyrics) (1962)
"Once Upon A Time"
Once upon a time A girl with moonlight in her eyes Put her hand in mine And said she loved me so But that was once upon a time Very long ago
Once upon a hill We sat beneath a willow tree Counting all the stars and waiting for the dawn But that was once upon a time Now the tree is gone
How the breeze ruffled up her hair How we always laughed as though tomorrow wasn't there We were young and didn't have a care Where did it go
Once upon a time The world was sweeter than we knew Everything was ours How happy we were then But somehow once upon a time Never comes again
Once upon a time Never comes again

I've Got Dreams to Remember - Otis Redding {Sharon Little Cover}
"I've Got Dreams To Remember"
I've got dreams, dreams to remember I've got dreams, dreams to remember
Honey, I saw you there last night Another man's arms holding you tight Nobody knows what I feel inside All I know, I walked away and cried
I've got dreams, dreams to remember Listen to me (I've got dreams) rough dreams (dreams to remember)
I know you said he was just a friend But I saw him kiss you, again and again These eyes of mine, they don't fool me Why did he hold you, so tenderly
I've got dreams, dreams to remember Listen honey (I've got dreams) rough dreams (dreams to remember)
I still want you to stay I still love you anyway I don't want you to ever leave Girl, you just satisfy me, ooh-wee, ooh yeah
I know you said he was just a friend But I saw you kiss him again and again These eyes of mine, they don't fool me Why did he hold you so tenderly
I've got dreams, dreams to remember Listen to me mama (I've got dreams) bad dreams, rough dreams (dreams to remember) Don't make me suffer (I've got dreams) rough dreams, bad dreams (dreams to remember)

Time After Time (Remastered 2006)
Frank Sinatra with Nelson Riddle scene with Jimmy Durante and Frank SinatraThe song was written for Frank Sinatra to introduce in the 1947 MGM film It Happened in Brooklyn. The pianist providing the offscreen accompaniment was André Previn to an arrangement of Axel Stordahl. Later in the film, the song was reprised in full by Kathryn Grayson. The only contemporary recording by a British artist was the one by Steve Conway.[2]
Sinatra recorded it again in 1957 with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra.[3] After it emerged as a jazz standard thanks to saxophonists like Getz and Coltrane, 1959 was a banner year for its popularity, being covered by many pop and jazz vocalists.[4] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_After_Time_(1947_song)

I find that day by day you're making all my dreams come true So come what may, I want you to know I'm yours alone, and I'm in love to stay As we go through the years day by day
Oh I'm yours alone, and I'm in love, in love to stay As we go through the years day by day Day by day

Jamie O'Neal - There Is No Arizonawww.jamieoneal.com/
The musicianship sounds like Eagles which helps make it a great choice for the girl from Tucson.
out in Arizona..........
He promised her a new and better life out in Arizona Underneath the blue never ending sky Swore that he was gonna Get things in order He'd send for her When he left her behind It never crossed her mind
There is no Arizona No Painted Desert, no Sedona If there was a Grand Canyon She could fill it up with the lies he's told her But they don't exist, those dreams he sold her She'll wake up and find There is no Arizona
She got a postcard with no return address, postmarked Tombstone It said "I don't know where I'm goin' next but when I do I'll let you know" May, June, July, she wonders why She's still waiting, she'll keep waiting cause
There is no Arizona No Painted Desert, no Sedona If there was a Grand Canyon She could fill it up with the lies he's told her But they don't exist, those dreams he sold her She'll wake up and find There is no Arizona
Each day the sun sets into the west Her heart sinks lower in her chest and Friends keep asking when she's going Finally she tells them don't you know
There is no Arizona No Painted Desert, no Sedona If there was a Grand Canyon She could fill it up with the lies he's told her But they don't exist, those dreams he sold her She'll wake up and find There is no Arizona
He promised her a new and better life Out in Arizona

this song starts out Phil Spectorish (Be My Baby) then makes a Beatlesish right turn (Magical Mystery Tour) and then gets Roy Orbison/JD Souther ish. Very nice combination but tells a frightening story calmly and with resignation.
Lord Huron - Long Lost (Official Lyric Video)
[Verse 1] Leave me where the light pours down through the trees like rain Let it wash over me like a flood, let it ease my pain Let it drown me
[Pre-Chorus] For a while I was held by the myth of the lost highway In the spell of the night with the lights of the great white way I ain't lonely, are you?
[Chorus] Send me to the mountains Let me go free forever I'll be running through the forest Dancing in the fields like this Long lost
[Verse 2] Leave me where the moonbeams carve through the leaves like blades Lay me in the tall-grown grass in a shallow grave Let it have me
[Verse 3] I've got a place in the world and I found out where Out in the night all alone in the way out there I ain't lonely I'm long lost Say goodbye, long lost Out of my mind, long lost

Linda's mom would love this song as would Linda's band. I wouldn't change a word or the genre. Sounds like something Warren Zevon could have written. Hey, it's a song...enjoy it.The Dead South - In Hell I'll Be In Good Company [Official Music Video] Lyrics:
Dead Love couldn't go no further Proud of and disgusted by her Push shove, a little bruised and battered Oh Lord I ain't coming home with you
My life's a bit more colder Dead wife is what I told her Brass knife sinks into my shoulder Oh babe don't know what I'm gonna do
I see my red head, messed bed, tear shed, queen bee My squeeze The stage it smells, tells, hell's bells, miss-spells Knocks me on my knees It didn't hurt, flirt, blood squirt, stuffed shirt Hang me on a tree After I count down, three rounds, in hell I'll be in good company
Dead Love couldn't go no further Proud of and disgusted by her Push shove, a little bruised and battered Oh Lord I ain't coming home with you
My life's a bit more colder Dead wife is what I told her Brass knife sinks into my shoulder Oh babe don't know what I'm gonna do
I see my red head, messed bed, tear shed, queen bee My squeeze The stage it smells, tells, hell's bells, misspells Knocks me on my knees It didn't hurt, flirt, blood squirt, stuffed shirt Hang me on a tree After I count down, three rounds, in hell I'll be in good company

The Dead South – “In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company” Lyrics Meaning melodyinsight.com/the-dead-south-in-hell-ill-be-in-good-company-lyrics-meaning/ SEPTEMBER 17, 2023 WRITTEN BY JOANNA LANDRUM Joanna holds a BSc in English Literature and uses her expertise in literary analysis to uncover the deeper meaning of her favorite songs.
The Dead South’s “In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company” isn’t your average bluegrass song. It’s a dark and intriguing tale of love gone horribly wrong. In a mix of eerie lyrics and foot-tapping banjo strums, the song tells a story of betrayal and inevitable doom. Here, love is both a weapon and a wound. The protagonist is proud yet disgusted by the woman he loves, leading to a complex emotional terrain.
This song might speak to you if you’ve ever felt trapped in love’s twisted dance. It’s not clear why things took such a dark turn, but the narrator ends up with a “brass knife” in his shoulder and no plans to return home. It’s about confronting the hellish aspects of life and love, and accepting that sometimes you’re just in bad company.
Ever wondered if there’s a dark side to love that’s as captivating as it is terrifying? Buckle up as we dissect “In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company” and find out what it’s really saying about love and doom.
“In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company” Lyrics Meaning
“Dead love couldn’t go no further, Proud of, and disgusted by her” – The song wastes no time getting to the heart of a tormented relationship. Love is portrayed as a dead end, full of contradictions. The protagonist is proud of the woman he loves, yet disgusted by her, laying the groundwork for a relationship that’s built on shaky foundations.
“Push, shove, a little bruised and battered, Oh Lord, I ain’t coming home with you” – Here, the dark themes continue. There’s a sense of physical and emotional conflict, and it’s apparent that the relationship is beyond repair. He declares he isn’t going back, taking a stand against the toxic love he’s ensnared in.
“My life’s a bit more colder, Dead wife is what I told her, Brass knife sinks into my shoulder” – In these lines, the emotional temperature drops. The protagonist’s life gets colder metaphorically and literally as a knife finds its way into his shoulder. It’s a dramatic turn, signaling that he’s not just walking away from a bad relationship, but also confronting the dangers that come with it.
“In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company” – The chorus encapsulates the song’s grim outlook. It’s a sort of dark resignation to the idea that if hell is where he’s going, at least he’ll be surrounded by those who deserve to be there, too. It’s a nod to the flawed humanity we all share, suggesting that we’re never truly alone in the bad places we may end up in.
Now, if we could just get a new group going called The Dead South Park with Kenny as lead singer....the Scribe

for a long time I have thought this perfect for Linda
Magnolia Moon
Seals and Crofts
Lyrics
Magnolia moon in June, movin' through the trees over me Takes me back to the days when we were young again, remember when You were with me almost all the time, and you were always such a champion by my side Gone are the dawns as if they never came. The sandy lane keeps a-callin' just the same And your name is still remembered when the friends jubilee And you should see the sweet magnolias in the lane
Magnolia moon will soon be shining one last time just for me Through the night like a beacon beyond the hill of time when you were mine And oh such a painting in southern skies, like the eyes of my darlin' in surprise
Gone with the dawn, immortal face in time Like the blue-green of the bayou, you were mine And your shrine is with these people, they'll forever see your light And you should smell the sweet magnolias in the night

and along the same lines as Going To California here is one John Beland, Linda's friend and band member suggested
Cant Find My Way Home (Ronstadt Revue with John Beland)
2,023 views Premiered May 29, 2021 We are so proud and honored to have worked with Mr. John Beland, who produced and performed on our latest video, "Can't Find My Way Home", by Steve Winwood. John was a founding member of Swampwater, Linda's first band as a solo artist (after the Stone Poneys) and when he suggested this tune to us, we jumped at the opportunity to work with him on it. Thank you so much, John, for all your support for, and interest in, Ronstadt Revue! We hope you'll all Enjoy, Like and Share our new video!
me to Ronstadt Revue: There is another song that Linda had in her act in 1972 but she never recorded it unfortunately. I don't want to be presumptuous but you might want to consider it. Linda was a big JJ Cale fan and she turned me onto his music. The song is somewhat obscure and Linda did it in a real "soulful" way similar to the way Ges already sings. The song is Don't Go To Strangers.
Ronstadt Revue to me: Wow Rob! That’s a great song. Thank you for sharing it with us. Yes, we’ll absolutely consider this one. John has been great to work with and yes, we are definitely going to keep working together. Hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to perform this song live.
